Looking back at the Running Bees: the Bees create a buzz

Looking back at the Running Bees, a sporting event organised by Fifty Bees.
It was under the sun that the "Bees" set off on the Running Bees, on 20 May — World Bee Day — for a 25 km relay race with a bee-shaped route through the heart of Lyon! Why such a surprising course? 40 of our employees, split into small groups and kitted out in T-shirts specially designed for the occasion, ran — in compliance with health regulations — the distance of their choice based on their ability.
Beyond the sporting goal, the race, led by Sylvain PONCET (Account Manager) who ran the entire distance (!), aimed to raise funds for the fight against cancer. Standing up for fair, supportive, and responsible causes is particularly close to the heart of Delphine MICHARD-GRUNWALD — chair of our group — and the Bees are deeply committed to the fight against cancer and other areas such as supporting young people, through the Ouvre-Boîte des Apprentis d'Auteuil, for example. We therefore devised this race, with the goal of donating the funds raised at its conclusion (target set — and reached!
— of €3,000) to the Centre Léon Bérard. The idea was also to offer a day of shared experience within the group and to showcase once more the bee logo we have been sporting for the past three years. A cancer treatment centre serving Lyon and the Rhône-Alpes region, the Centre Léon Bérard pursues a threefold mission of care, research, and education. Its vocation is to offer quality care and access to the latest research advances to people suffering from cancer.

By bringing together doctors, researchers, and patients on a single site, the Centre Léon Bérard's ambition is to shorten the gap between laboratory discoveries and their application to patients. All the Bees found their way back to the hive, tired but happy to have taken part in this wonderful project for a noble cause. One last detail — and by no means the least: on our arrival, Jean MICHARD (founder of the group), Tiffany FERRO (Head of the Production Unit), and Julie Levaillant (Accounting Associate) had prepared a lovely buffet (and a delicious cocktail …) so the Bees could recharge.
Enough to motivate us to try the adventure again next year… with a new route! FIFTY BEES would like to warmly thank Tribune de Lyon for its support during this endeavour 😉.
